Orla worked in the legal profession for 22 years, qualifying as a Solicitor in 1991, headed the family department of the firm and ultimately worked as a Consultant. Orla left private practice in Sept 2008 and in 2010 was appointed a Deputy District Judge. She trained as a Mediator in 1997 and returned to practice in 2006. She was trained in direct consultation with children in 2009.
She now mediates from outposts in Worthing and Brighton.

All the FMIS mediators are members of the Family Mediators Association and have met its requirements as to competent practice and work to its standards. They are all recognised to conduct publicly funded mediation by the Legal Services Commission
